Tunes for the holidays! (pt 2)

Hey hey! Happy holidays :) hope you’re all having a great break. We thought we’d again share some tunes for the holidays for you guys to enjoy!

Bethel Music out of California just released another killer album called “Have it All” which just came out and you can now grab on iTunes or through their web store.

One of the songs on the album is called ‘Glory to Glory’ and we thought we’d let you know what it’s about (it’s also super catchy and you’ll be singing it in the shower for days).

The chorus reads:

We go from glory to glory to glory we’ll never be the same… never be the same…
You take us higher and higher and higher… we’re forever changed… forever changed

I don’t know if you have ever tried to picture the best version of yourself… or what you hope you might one day look like or be like? Maybe you’ve never really thought about it? Maybe now is the first time you have?… Well, whether you have spent hours dreaming about what future you looks like or not – the bottom line is from birth we have been designed to grow and change and for that to be something that just continues in our lives. When we are newborns we are very much capped in regards to what we can do and are capable of and are very much limited in what we know and understand. As time goes on as we know all this changes for us and we as people develop with time.

We have a design (hence the whole face and facial features thing that we all seem to have) and that didn’t just automatically happen – we were designed and then made just like anything else in this world. The person behind all that is God. (It’s His template we’re using here!) He has designed for us to grow and change and to become more like the best version of ourselves… to ‘go from glory to glory to glory!’

The best version of ourselves looks a lot like Him. A person full of love, goodness, self control, generosity, mercy, creativity, wisdom – these are all amazing qualities we were always meant to have! Everybody wants these things active in their life – they’re good for us and for others. What this song is talking about is that in our relationship with God as we engage with Him as we look towards Him and His ways – He changes us and transforms us to be like this best version of ourselves. People start to become more like whoever they surround themselves with – surrounding ourselves with God has the same effect too.

When we open ourselves up and allow Him into our lives in a real way – ‘we’re never the same’ and ‘we’re forever changed’… And it’s a glorious process!

We spend the rest of our lives being changed and transformed, taken higher and higher than we’ve been before.

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.2 Corinthians 3:18

Another version of this verse describes it as ‘our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.’

I don’t know anyone else who is committed to our life long transformation like He is and I don’t know about you but I’m super grateful that He has our unconditional good in the forefront of His mind and wants to see us become the best version of ourselves. What an awesome truth to live under. We hope you enjoy the song and the story within it :).

Some lyrics from ‘Glory to Glory’

Created from dust
You came and You lived among us
You took on our frame
You walked in our pain
And now You’re taking us higher

You stepped into time
You laid down Your life to save us
You took all our shame
On the cross it was laid
And now You’re taking us higher

We go from glory to glory to glory
We’ll never be the same, We’ll never be the same
We go from glory to glory to glory
We’re forever changed, Forever changed

You call me Your friend
Brought into Your endless kingdom
By the blood I was made
No longer a slave
And now You’re taking us higher

We go from glory to glory to glory
We’ll never be the same, We’ll never be the same
You take us higher and higher and higher
We’re forever changed, Forever changed
